Arsenal's Injury Woes Continue

Arsenal will be without another key first team player for a couple of weeks, right-back Bacary Sagna will be out for for at least their next two games because of a thigh injury.   Sagna, 27, picked up the niggle against Chelsea in the 2-0 defeat at Stanford Bridge and was ruled out of France's Euro 2012 qualifiers against Romania and Luxembourg.  He is now also likely to miss club games against Birmingham on Saturday and Shakhtar Donetsk on 19 October.  Arsenal are missing five players who could easily be in the first team, the others are Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott, Robin van Persie, Thomas Vermaelen and Nicklas Bendtner.  They are also missing a few squad players as well with defender Kieran Gibbs, midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Abou Diaby and goalkeeper Manuel Almunia all out injured.

Many say that the team that wins the league it the team that gets the least injuries during the season.  Arsenal have been without their top players for a while now and it has had an impact on their chance to win the title this year but they have done well in the Champions league.  Also the news that Fabregas looks fit enough to start against Birmingham after recovering from a hamstring injury suffered against Sunderland on 21 September, will bring delight to most Arsenal fans.

Theo Walcott injured his ankle whilst away on international duty for England in a Euro 2012 Qualifier against Switzerland on September 7.  He is also a possibility for the match against Birmingham and if Arsenal can get these two players back into the first team they can definitely make an impact on this title race if not win it themselves.

With the Liverpool suffering on and off the pitch, Tottenham and Man City dropping points to sides they shouldn't and Manchester United's inability to win away from home.  Arsenal should be happy that during this time of key injuries that they haven't lost ground in the Champions League race.

  1. Doesn't matter if Walcott plays or not, because he's not very good anyway!!
